Company owner and entrepreneur Hilary Devey is set to join the Dragons on Dragons Den, after agreeing to take the place of James Caan, who quit last month.
53 year old Devey will take her place on the panel, having launched Pall-Ex in 1996, and turning the pallet distribution service into a multi million pound global company.
Devey herself was rejected by all the banks, and had to sell both her house and car to fund her business, but it’s her success that see’s her joining Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis for the new season.
“At a time when the banks are failing to invest in British small businesses, I am proud to be able to do my part to support the next generation of UK entrepreneurs,” said Devey.
“I would have loved the opportunity to have stood before the Dragons, and I will remember my own experiences and the realities of running a business today, when choosing to support – or reject – the budding entrepreneurs joining me in the Den.”
Devey has already appeared on TV before, on Channel 4s Secret Millionaire, where she helped people in Rochdale.
Programme Controller on BBC Two, Janice Hadlow said, “Hilary is a welcome and impressive addition to the Dragons’ lair.
“With her extensive business experience, she will bring a new dynamic to the Den, turning up the heat on prospective entrepreneurs as they seek that all important investment.”
