Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins is said to be over the moon after Gethin Jones proposed to her.
The couple, who met on BBCs Strictly Come Dancing over three years ago have been going out ever since and are now expected to tie the knot next year.
Friends of the mezzo-soprano say she immediately accepted the offer when Gethin proposed last month.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, a friend said, ‘Gethin proposed last month, it was a wonderful start to the year for both of them. Katherine is so happy and can’t wait to start planning her wedding which will be next year. They both have busy schedules and Katherine is touring a lot this year, but they will start planning soon.
‘Wales is an obvious choice for their wedding. It’s where they both come from and Katherine has always said that she would go home to be married. They are both very happy and in love and their family and friends are equally delighted for them. They are such a well-suited couple – a perfect match.’
Jones, 32, is also Welsh and was once a Blue Peter presenter. Last year he was voted Bachelor of the Year by a leading women’s magazine, but he’s no longer available.
The pair moved into a £4.7million house in South West London last summer, prompting rumours that they were to marry.
Jenkins, 30, wants to have children one day and said, ‘Oh definitely, one day. I can see myself married with children. I want to be a really good mum. Ultimately I would want to be able to combine both a family life and my singing career.’
A spokesman for Ms Jenkins said last night: ‘Katherine and Gethin are engaged but there is no further comment.’
