Ricky Gervais’ friend and ‘Idiot Abroad’ sidekick Karl Pilkington is set to return to the small screen in a series about “stuff a lot of people want to do before they die.”
Office star Gervais sent Karl Pilkington around the world to see the seven wonders of the world and Pilkington’s rather controversial views made the hit series, ‘An Idiot Abroad’ into a huge success.
Karl became a hit originally by starring a in a series of podcasts with writer Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais and spoke to Radio 5 about his future plans on Richard Bacons show.
He said: “It’s travelling again and doing stuff a lot of people want to do before they die.”
He did admit, possibly in jest that he wasn’t sure why people would want to watch the new show, reportedly called an An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List.
He adds: “I don’t get the concept. It’s that thing of if you’re dying are you in the mood to do anything?”
Karl was not initially a fan of travelling but admits he is warming to it now.
He said: “It’s like olives. I never used to like olives so someone said have four in a row and I got a taste for it.”
Ricky Gervais said: “It was hard work getting Karl to agree to another torture session, I mean series. It was time to give him a piece of the pie. It will most probably end up in his face.”
