Doctor Who have bagged another celebrity signing this week with the news that David Walliams has signed up to appear in the show.

Following on from fellow funny man, James Cordon, and singers Katherine Jenkins, and the legend that is Kylie Minogue, the cult sci-fi show can now add the Little Britain star to their list of famous stars.

Walliams, who has also swum the channel for Comic Relief, told BBC Radio 2 how excited he was to be offered the chance to appear on the show.

He told BBC Radio 2, “I’ve actually been offered a part in Doctor Who, which I’m very, very excited about. I’ve said yes. I don’t think I can say much, but I’ll say I’m an alien.”

Walliams also revealed he would one day love to take over Mat Smiths role as the doctor, saying, “I think any actor wouldn’t turn that down. I won’t be cast now though because they’re getting younger.”
