Fans of the yet-to-be-released Nokia N8 smartphone will have to wait just a little longer. The company is saying N8 pre-order customers can expect their phones sometime in October. In the past, Nokia has been seen as a company that promises so much yet delivers so little. Since this is the second delay for the much anticipated phone, many hope this wait will be well worth it.
In a recent statement, Nokia advised their pre order customer about the delay, by saying: “We have received a record number of online pre-orders for the Nokia N8. We had targeted our online pre-order customers to receive their N8s by the end of September. As it can take time from the beginning of shipment to arriving at their doorstep, in full transparency, we have advised our pre-order customers that they should expect their new Nokia N8 in October.”
Several customers have reported not hearing anything back from Nokia on the status of their phones. Even though Nokia showed off a prototype at its Nokia World event last week in London, the delay was very unexpected.
Although the Nokia brand is strong throughout the world, there is only so much customers will put up with, especially with other operating systems which are capable of so much, available with other brands.
Nokia has by far the largest share of the mobile phone market around the world, but recently has struggled against heavyweights Apple and Blackberry. The latest delay will not only be an embarrassment for Elop, but for the brand name Nokia, as well.
