Singer, Cheryl Cole has been told by American X Factor bosses, that she will need to lose her accent once she is on the show. Executives at Fox Network are worried that American viewers won’t be able to understand what she says, which is a ‘regulatory offence’.
The Geordie, who flew out to LA on Wednesday has also been banned from saying ‘Babe’, and has been told she will have to learn to say ‘pants’ instead of trousers, ‘cookies’ instead of biscuits and ‘butt’ instead of bum. They’ve also asked her not to use her popular phrase ‘pet’, to which she’s put her foot down.
Cole landed the £10m deal after co-star Simon Cowell insisted to Fox that she be hired, despite despite not being well known in the US. The network apparently already have a ‘get-out clause’ incase viewers don’t warm up to her this Autumn, an insider has stated. But Cowell is determined to make her a star.
