Blue Valentine star Michelle Williams will grace the front page of Maria Claire magazine for February. The star, who has a baby with the late Heath Ledger, also stars in Blue Valentine, a new film released this week.
The film, in which she partners Ryan Gosling, tells the story of a couple falling in and out of love, and has cause controversy in the States for its very honest depiction of their sexual relationship.
The film is rated a 15 here in Britain, but an Adults Only NC17 in America. The former Dawson’s Creek star has been nominated for several awards for her role in the film, which may see her add to her Oscar for best supporting actress in Brokeback Mountain.
The 31 year old star talked to Marie Claire about the difficulties of raising a child alone, and also spoke about the advice given to her by Reese Witherspoon.
“To give credit where credit is due, I was sharing a difficulty I was experiencing with Reese Witherspoon, and she said, ‘Yes, I understand, but think about how much more difficult this would be without the luxury of a reliable, steady income.”
“When things are difficult for me as a single parent, I always reflect on how much harder it would be if I didn’t have money—if I couldn’t afford a babysitter to go to yoga class or out to dinner with a girlfriend.”
