After 10 years of Big Brother on Channel 4 we finally thought (hoped) we’d seen the and of the show, especially after talks between show producers Endemol UK and Channel 5 broke down last year, but there could be hope for Big Brother fans yet.
Media Mogul, Richard Desmond, who owns a stake in Channel 5 has reopened talks with the producers about bringing the show back this summer.
Reports suggest a deal, which would see both Big Brother, and its sister Celebrity edition, make the short journey to Channel 5 and could be completed within weeks.
Davina McCall is also expected to make the trip and continue hosting the show she holds so close to her heart.
Big Brother slowly started to lose its attraction, after shows like X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent became much bigger, but still attracted 4 million viewers to its final show.
2002 saw the shows biggest year with a record 9.2million people tuning in to see Kate Lawler crowned champion, and an average of 5.3 million people tuned in each week throughout the series.
With Desmond already owning OK, the Daily Express and the Daily Star he could guarantee the blanket coverage the show may need to be popular again.
