Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has opened up about her role in Shrek The Musical, which will open in May in London.
The star, who recently lost her baby whilst 6 months pregnant, spoke to the Daily Mail about why she had taken on the role, and admitted that she loved playing Fiona as she wasn’t your typical princess.
She said: “I wanted to do Fiona because she’s so funny, so spiteful and she’s not a whoopee Cinderella who can’t do anything for herself. She doesn’t really need to be rescued.”
Holden admitted that she didn’t think she would get the part after auditioning.
The star added: “I said to the driver, ‘This won’t take long. I’ll probably be crap. Keep the engine running’. I ran in and did it.
“I was terrified, as anyone would be doing an audition.”
Anyone wanting to see Amanda in the musical should head to the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, where the show opens from May 6th.
It also stars Nigel Lindsay, Richard Blackwood and Nigel Harmen.
